Booking a vehicle

What's included in my booking?

The majority of our rental cars come with these features included in the rate: Collision Damage Waiver, Theft Waiver, GST, Airport Fee, Road Tax, Unlimited Mileage and Breakdown Assistance. To see exactly what is included in the quoted price click on the “Terms and Conditions” link located at the bottom of the car panel after you have conducted a car hire search.

How can I amend or cancel my booking?

When you book a rental car through us you’ll receive a confirmation email. If you need to cancel or modify your booking simply click on the link in that email. Alternatively, you can look up your reservation. Make sure you have your reservation number and the email you used to make the booking. You can cancel your booking free-of-charge up to 48 hours before your rental period begins.

Does it cost extra to modify my booking?

In some cases the price of your rental may change. If you change the dates of your rental period we might not be able to offer you the same price as originally quoted. It is however completely free to make a change. Alternatively, provided it is more than 48 hours before your rental period you can cancel your booking for free and do a new search to see what other options are available. IMPORTANT: In can take up to 48 hours to process a modification to your booking.

Where can I find the terms and conditions of my rental?

On the search results page of our booking process you will find the rental conditions by clicking the “Rental Conditions” link located at the bottom of each car panel. You can also find your rental terms and conditions on the confirmation voucher that you will receive via email after booking.

Where will I be collecting my vehicle from?

When you run a comparison search for a location simply press the “Book Now” button on the vehicle you wish to hire and at the top of the page will be the collection address for that vehicle. If you’re renting from an airport you can either pick-up/drop-off your rental at the terminal or there are often cheaper options where the car rental company will pick you up (for free) from the terminal and drop you off to pick-up/drop-off your rental car.

How will I receive confirmation of my booking?

You will be sent a confirmation email with your rental voucher when you make a booking. This is your booking voucher and will confirm the details of your booking in full including the phone number and address of the car rental supplier. You will also be able to manage your booking from the link in this email. If for some reason you do not receive a confirmation email (make sure you check the spam folder in your email account) please contact us

Paying for your hire car

Do I need my credit card details to book a rental car?

If you are booking a rental car domestically in Australia then in most cases you will not need to prepay or supply your credit card details. You will have to supply a credit card for your rental on pick-up. If you are booking a rental car for use overseas or are booking from outside Australia then you will need to part-pay or pay for it in full to confirm your booking.

Can I pay for my rental with a debit card?

You can pay for your rental car with a debit card however most of our rental partners will require a credit card in the drivers name to release the vehicle at the time of pick up. You can see these details for any rental vehicle by clicking on the “Rental Conditions” link for that vehicle.

Do you charge booking fees?

No. It’s completely free to book a rental car with us.

If I pay for my rental in full and then cancel, will I get a full refund?

Yes. As long as you cancel at least 48 hours before your rental period starts you will get a full refund.

Will I be charged if I don't show up for my rental?

You will not be charged if you haven’t part-paid or pre-paid your booking. If you have paid you’ll need to cancel at least 48 hours prior to your booking otherwise you’ll be charged an administration fee of $28.75 (subject to change). Please cancel your booking if you do not intend to complete your rental.

Will I need to pay a bond when I pick up my rental?

Yes, it is standard practice that you will be charged a bond when you pick your vehicle. This amount varies across locations and across suppliers and it will be returned to you once you complete your rental (provided there is no damage to the vehicle).

Customer requirements

What documents do I need to bring when I collect the car?

When you pick up your rental car you will need to supply a valid driver’s licence (this can be international if you meet the criteria of the FAQ below), your booking voucher (this will be emailed to you) and a valid credit card in the name of the driver.

Can I use an International Driver Licence to rent a car in Australia?

You can rent a car with an international licence as long as you can meet the following conditions. It must be a valid full drivers licence, it must be in English, it must have your photo on it and you will need to present your passport as well. We recommend calling your rental supplier once you receive your booking voucher to confirm their policy on international driver’s licences.

Can I rent a car if I'm under 25?

Most rental companies will let you rent a car if you are 21 or over. However there are often extra charges involved and some types of vehicles may be excluded. These details can be found in the rental conditions of a given vehicle.

Can I rent a car on a provisional licence?

No. Unfortunately you need to have a full drivers licence to rent a vehicle.

Comparing car rental results

Can I add extra equipment to my rental?

You can request items such as baby/child seats and GPS navigation. These are subject to availability and we suggest you ring your car rental supplier after booking to secure the equipment for your rental. If it's roof racks you're after then unfortunately our suppliers don't offer roof racks with their vehicles.

Why does it say "or similar" after the vehicle name?

The vehicles displayed in our results are the most commonly supplied vehicles by our car rental partners. These cannot be guaranteed by the supplier however if your make and model is not available you’ll be given a vehicle with as similar features as possible. You might even be upgraded to something better.

General FAQs

Can I add extra drivers to my booking?

You can add additional drivers when you pick up your rental. Just make sure the additional drivers are present at the rental office as they will need to supply their driver’s licence and also sign the rental agreement.

Do you offer one-way rentals?

Yes. Simply check the “Different Drop Off Location” tick-box and enter the destination you would like to drop the vehicle off at. All the results will be one-way rental cars.

If I go on a toll road, who pays?

Travel on toll roads is not included in our suppliers rental rates. You can visit these sites for information on the toll roads in each city: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane

Are there restrictions on where I can drive my rental?

Each of our rental partners may have differing policies when it comes to restrictions on where their vehicles can be driven/taken. We strongly advise you read the terms and conditions of your rental carefully and if you think there could be an issue with your plans contact the supplier you have booked with to make sure it is okay.

Why do I need to provide my flight number?

Providing your flight details allows the rental desk to be informed about your arrival. If your flight is delayed they will make sure there is someone there to take care of your confirmed reservation.

Can I rent a car wih roof racks?

Unfortunately, none of our rental suppliers’ vehicles come with roof racks or allow roof racks to be fitted to there vehicles. Sorry!

Can I book rental car overseas?

Yes. We compare great deals on rental vehicles across the globe. Simply fill out the details for your desired rental location when you search for cars on our site.

Why can't I find a phone number?

We’re an online only service. The fact that we are online only does not mean we skimp on customer service! We are very quick to answer any enquiries to our email or through our contact form. We are also happy to make any enquiries to the supplier you book with for you. Just let us know and we’ll do our best to help. Once you have made a booking through our site you can contact the supplier directly (the details will be on your booking voucher) to discuss any questions you may have.

Do you have your own vehicles?

No, we don’t. You could consider us an online car rental match making service. We compare major and independent car rental companies available vehicles to offer a very wide range at competitive prices.

Do you really donate 100% of your profits to Fight For Our Reef?
